Han media: Doubled in three years, 14 Chinese companies have entered the top 100 automotive parts enterprises in the world!
On October 25, the South Korean media Newsis published an article stating that China is getting rid of the image of a "subcontractor country" in the automotive parts industry and becoming a core supplier.
The number of Chinese companies among the top 100 global parts enterprises has doubled in three years, with total sales exceeding 98.6 billion US dollars.
The transition to electrification and China's supply chain strategy centered on the domestic market are intertwining to reshape the global automotive parts market.
A report released by the Korea Automotive Research Institute on "Top 100 Global Parts Enterprises" shows that the total sales of Chinese enterprises increased more than threefold from 31.6 billion US dollars in 2020 to 98.6 billion US dollars last year.
At the same time, the share of Chinese parts enterprises in the total sales of the top 100 parts enterprises also increased more than threefold, reaching 10.4%, and the number of enterprises increased from 7 to 14.
According to the analysis, this change is driven by the expansion of整车 (complete vehicle) production and exports in Asia, especially in China.
Last year, China's complete vehicle production reached 31.28 million units, an increase of 3.7% year-on-year, ranking first globally, directly driving the sales growth of parts suppliers who do business with local complete vehicle manufacturers.
Companies such as Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in the battery sector have seen particularly significant growth. Electrification and electrical and electronic components are the most widely involved fields among the top 100 global enterprises, and Chinese enterprises are increasing their global market share based on price competitiveness and large-scale production capacity.
Under the "Made in China 2025" strategy, China is promoting self-sufficiency in key parts and basic materials. In recent years, China has accelerated the internationalization of its supply chain, including encouraging the use of domestic automotive semiconductors.
It is expected that the global status of Chinese parts enterprises will continue to strengthen in the coming years. However, intensified competition in battery prices, technical barriers, and overseas regulatory regulations are seen as risk factors.
A South Korean industry insider said: "The influence of Chinese enterprises is expanding from simple contract manufacturing to new areas such as electrification, software, and robotics. During the process of global supply chain restructuring, the sense of tension among existing leading enterprises is increasing."
