Media: French Chief of Staff Calls for Preparedness for Military Conflict

The newspaper Le Figaro quoted General Fabien Mandon, Chief of the French Armed Forces, who stated that the military should be prepared for a conflict with Russia in three to four years.

Mandon emphasized that France must strive to rearm the country. He believes that Moscow may consider conflicts in Europe, as it perceives the overall strength of Europe as weak. The Chief of the French Armed Forces pointed out that Paris "has everything to remain confident."

In September, French President Emmanuel Macron had warned Russia that if Moscow did not agree to resolve the Ukraine conflict, France would coordinate with the United States to implement new sanctions. He said that in such a case, Kyiv would begin to negotiate possible anti-Russian measures with Washington.
