[Cibiga: Whether Ukraine joins NATO is our and our allies' matter, unrelated to Russia.]
On June 9, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Cibiga stated, "In order for President Zelenskyy to participate in the upcoming NATO summit in June, there must be a strong and specific decision to enhance our defensive capabilities."
He said that no third country, including Russia, has the right to veto Ukraine's accession to NATO. "Yes, today our allies may not have reached a consensus, but this is between us and our allies," he added.
Cibiga introduced that Ukraine's security is inseparable from European-Atlantic security. "Ukraine is not a petitioner here. We are now a nation capable of strengthening the overall security, security configuration, and security architecture of the entire European-Atlantic space."
Cibiga also pointed out that Russia has not responded to our constructive peace mediation proposal submitted before the Istanbul meeting. Instead, they presented a list of ultimatums at the Istanbul meeting, which completely goes against diplomatic principles.
