Having always been known for his signature leather jacket, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang entered the White House to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump and wore a formal suit to show respect.

Huang also suggested to Trump from the perspective of maintaining America's leading position in technology, hoping that the U.S. government could revise the export regulations for AI chips so that companies could seize future opportunities more effectively.

CNBC reported that Nvidia's chips provide the computing core for most advanced AI applications today, making them a key role in the global economy in recent years.

However, Nvidia is facing increasing challenges domestically in the United States, including tariffs as well as a regulation imposed during the Biden administration restricting the export of the most advanced AI chips.

According to Central News Agency, the Trump administration has further restricted Nvidia's exports of H20 chips to China unless special permission is obtained. Originally developed to comply with previous U.S. export restrictions, the H20 is now subject to limitations, which Nvidia said would cost them $5.5 billion.

Nvidia previously stated that U.S. policies should focus on enhancing the competitiveness of domestic enterprises, while restricting chip sales to countries such as China would endanger America's technological leadership.

Reuters reported yesterday, citing three sources, that the Trump administration is working on revising the norms limiting access to AI chips imposed by the previous Biden administration.

The so-called "Framework for Artificial Intelligence Diffusion" was released by the U.S. Department of Commerce in the last week of the Biden administration and companies must comply with relevant restrictions starting May 15th.

According to reports by Bloomberg and other foreign media today, Huang said at a press conference: "We need to accelerate the global diffusion of American AI technology. Government policies and incentives can indeed support this."

He mentioned: "I am not sure about the new diffusion norms, but regardless of the outcome, it must be recognized that fundamental changes have occurred in the world since the previous diffusion norm came out."

Huang also reminded that China is growing into a strong competitor in the technology field. He said: "China is not far behind, they are catching up fast. We are very, very close."
