According to the message on the Ministry of Commerce website, the meeting to promote the expansion of overseas tourist tax refund policies and inbound consumption was held in Beijing on May 15. The meeting thoroughly implemented the decisions and plans of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, exchanged experiences and practices of overseas tourist tax refund policies, and deployed key tasks for the next step. Local commerce authorities should actively collaborate with relevant departments to accelerate the expansion of stores, increase product varieties, and optimize services, focusing on improving the coverage of tax refund stores, enhancing the attractiveness of tax-refund goods, strengthening the sense of gain for foreign tourists, expanding inbound consumption, and making positive contributions to vigorously boosting consumption and promoting sustained economic recovery and improvement. It is necessary to improve working mechanisms as soon as possible, strengthen departmental collaboration, widely pool strength, enhance data empowerment, innovate work measures, and promote the rapid implementation of overseas tourist tax refund policies.
Representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the General Administration of Customs, the State Taxation Administration, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and relevant departments of provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government, as well as representatives from related chambers of commerce, financial institutions, and enterprises attended the meeting.
