On October 16, 2025, in Lake City, Illinois, new recruits took the naturalization oath at the New Recruit Memorial Chapel of the Recruit Training Command (RTC). The RTC training lasts about nine weeks, and all new U.S. Navy recruits start their military careers at this command. Over 40,000 new recruits receive training each year at the only naval training camp in the United States.
