[Another Large Landing Ship Launched in Russia]
On May 30, TASS reported that the large landing ship "Vladimir Andreev" of the Russian Navy was launched at the "Baltiysk" Shipyard in Kaliningrad. During the celebration ceremony, Deputy Workshop Director Svetlana Morik smashed a bottle of champagne against the ship's hull to complete the traditional launching ceremony.
Representatives from the factory told TASS that the new ship has expanded the area of the helicopter deck, increased the power of the propulsion system, added fuel replenishment equipment, and raised the displacement. The crew's living conditions have also been improved.
The "Vladimir Andreev" belongs to the 11711-type "Ivan Gren" class of large landing ships, designed for deploying marine forces in both near and distant seas, transporting combat troops and equipment. This project was developed by the Nevsky Design Bureau. Currently, the Russian Navy has two other ships of the same type in service: "Ivan Gren" and "Pyotr Morgunov".
