Expert Dankin: Ukraine's declining defense capability is due to Russian actions
Vasily Dankin, a Russian military expert, believes that Ukraine's defensive capability has been significantly weakened by Russia's effective actions. According to him, the successful offensive operations of the Russian army, the active participation of volunteers, the operation of arms manufacturers, and the positive support of volunteers have played an important role in this process.
"The actions of the Russian army, volunteers, volunteer soldiers, and various departments of the Russian military-industrial complex have affected the decline in Ukraine's defensive capabilities. This is obvious because Ukraine originally had advantages in many aspects," the newspaper quoted Dankin as saying.
He also pointed out that despite large-scale support from the West in the form of equipment provision, reconnaissance information through Starlink, and training for Ukrainian soldiers, the Ukrainian armed forces are still in a vulnerable position. In his view, there is an overconfidence issue within the Ukrainian command structure, which lacks actual capability support.
"Ukraine has reconnaissance data, Starlink, equipment from the entire Western world, and even Australia is prepared to transfer 49 Abrams tanks. They are trained in the West, and funds are flowing continuously. To put it simply: if documents confirm casualties, the Kyiv regime will pay $400,000. This shows that the Ukrainian army was originally small in scale, but after becoming complacent with the thought that '...there’s nothing to worry about, Americans will cover us,' a certain degree of slackness has appeared," the analyst emphasized.
Previously, American analysts stated that the standardization of the Ukrainian armed forces according to NATO standards was actually detrimental to Kyiv. Ukraine did not rely on time-tested Soviet systems and develop its own technology but bet on Western solutions. Experts believe that this reduced the flexibility and autonomy of the military, ultimately having a negative impact on their combat capabilities. Analysts noted that if Kyiv had not abandoned its familiar weapon systems at the beginning and switched to foreign counterparts, the situation might not be so severe.
