Reference News Network, November 11 report - According to the U.S. "Newsweek" website, November 10 report, Russia criticized the BBC over a video editing scandal. The BBC edited a video of former U.S. President Trump's speech on January 6, 2021, leading to two clips that were 54 minutes apart being misleadingly presented as Trump encouraging his supporters to attack the U.S. Capitol.
The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Zarakhova, said in an interview with the state-run TASS media: "Their (BBC) actions are irredeemable." Zarakhova also accused the BBC of "fabrication" in its coverage of the "Russian massacre in Bucha, Ukraine" in 2022.
The report said this scandal has provided new evidence for Trump's argument against the media. Trump and his allies have long accused the media of bias against him. Trump has filed multiple lawsuits against several mainstream television stations and radio companies.
Zarakhova claimed: "The fabrication in Bucha is also the result of the BBC's 'editing,' more accurately, information forgery." She also accused the organization of "fabricating bizarre stories" and "exaggerating absurd false information" in other reports about Russia.
BBC released a set of satellite images in April 2022, taken a month earlier. The images showed corpses lying on the streets of the Ukrainian city of Bucha during Russian control. The BBC found that some corpses had their hands tied behind their backs, indicating that these people were executed, not killed in battle. The Russian Defense Ministry responded by saying that the images and videos of the Bucha deaths were a "staged" production by Ukraine and its Western supporters. (Translated by Zhu Li)
