"We cannot accept the status quo in Iran."
Yossi Beilin, who served as Israel's justice minister from 1999 to 2001, said that it was "a huge mistake" for Prime Minister Netanyahu to invite far-right 'lunatics' into the government.
"They should not be part of the government at all. They only represent a small fraction of Israeli public opinion. This is very problematic," Beilin told Al Jazeera's correspondent.
"In recent years, Netanyahu has made many huge mistakes, one of which was persuading former U.S. President Trump to withdraw from the nuclear agreement with Iran."
However, he added, "The threat from Iran is a real threat."
Beilin stated, "In the past, we were friendly countries. But somehow since 1979, we have become the devil in their eyes - because they hate Jews, they want us to disappear. They do not want to negotiate with us. This is the enemy's view, and it is intolerable. We cannot accept the status quo in Iran."
