Pakistani military spokesman Major General Ahmed Cheema told CNN that Pakistan had shot down two Indian fighter jets.
Previously, according to local television station Samaa, Pakistani security sources said that an Indian Air Force "Rafale" fighter jet was shot down near the eastern Ahmedpur area of Bahawalpur district in Punjab Province.
According to official sources, the security forces stated that Pakistan's air defense forces also successfully shot down an Indian Air Force "Rafale" fighter jet that violated Pakistan's airspace early Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. when radar systems detected this Indian aircraft entering Pakistani airspace without permission. The Pakistani military then intercepted and eliminated the threat according to standard procedures.
The Pakistani military said that the wreckage of the downed aircraft has been found within Pakistan, and search teams have been dispatched to the scene to determine the status of the pilot.
