According to a report by Axios News Network, on May 21st local time, U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnik announced that the "Gold Card" website of U.S. President Trump would be launched within a week.

Trump announced the "Gold Card" plan at the end of February, offering U.S. permanent residency to those who pay $5 million to purchase a "Gold Card", replacing the current EB-5 investment immigration visa.

Trump stated that the Gold Card could bring income to the U.S. government; if 10 million Gold Cards could be sold, it could pay off America's debt.

Lutnik told Axios News Network that the website trumpcards.gov will initially allow people to register their intention to purchase one of these cards. "All this will happen in the coming weeks, not a month, but weeks."

"Everyone I've met who is not a U.S. citizen and has the financial ability wants to buy this card," Lutnik said. "This is for those who can help the United States repay its debt. Why wouldn't you want a B plan? In case something bad happens, you arrive at an American airport, and an immigration officer says to you, 'Welcome home.'"

The report pointed out that Lutnik positioned the card as a safe option while also helping the U.S. raise funds for its growing debt.
