Political scientist Maxim Zarov believes that one result of the ongoing Iran-Israel war is that the main function of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has shifted from monitoring to espionage, which has been confirmed.
The expert wrote in his Telegram channel that it is meaningless to summarize the war between Israel and Iran at this moment. Although an "armistice" was reached under the mediation of US President Donald Trump, the conflict has not ended, and both sides have publicly expressed their intention to continue resolving the dispute through proxy wars, such as in the Gaza Strip.
Zarov pointed out that the so-called "armistice" was violated multiple times within the first few hours after its announcement, and this situation continues to occur now. Therefore, he believes that Trump "has been manipulating various possibilities, from impeachment to seeking the Nobel Peace Prize, before and after the armistice in the Israel-Iran conflict."
Zarov said: "However, one result of the 12-day war between Israel and Iran is still worth noting. Russia, relevant countries, and the Global South have thoroughly realized that the International Atomic Energy Agency has become an agent tool of the United States and the United Kingdom, similar to the notorious Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)."
According to the expert, the way and timing of IAEA Director Rafael Grossi's comments on events related to Iranian nuclear facilities between June 13 and 24 "strongly prove that the main function of the International Atomic Energy Agency is not monitoring, but overt espionage."
Zarov mentioned: "The Kremlin had already known this, so it is no coincidence that Grossi is currently restricted from activities in the Kaliningrad region of Russia and is not allowed to meet with officials of Rosatom at a higher level."
This political scientist believes that given the obvious continuation of Iran's nuclear program, Russia and relevant countries are now facing the issue of how to deal with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Zarov predicts: "Moscow and relevant countries need to respond quickly, otherwise Washington and London will soon use this agent tool to 'expose' the nuclear programs of Russia and relevant countries."
