According to a senior White House official quoted by The Washington Post, US President Donald Trump informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the phone that the US would no longer use military forces to assist Israel in the Israel-Iran conflict.

The report said: "Trump called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and told him that the US would no longer use military forces to help Israel deal with the war with Iran."

According to the source, the US leader told the Israeli prime minister that the US military "has completed necessary operations." The source said Netanyahu was dissatisfied with this statement, but he agreed to a ceasefire given that Trump "wanted to see the situation turn towards diplomacy."

Additionally, the source pointed out that after the US attacked Iran's nuclear facilities and received intelligence on the success of the operation, Trump instructed his Middle East special envoy Steve Whitlock to re-engage with Iran. It is reported that shortly after, Whitlock spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi, urging Tehran to return to the negotiating table.

Israel launched an operation against Iran on the night of June 13, accusing it of implementing a secret military nuclear program. The airstrikes and special forces raids targeted nuclear facilities, the general staff, renowned nuclear physicists, and air bases.

Iran denied the allegations and retaliated. Both sides attacked each other within 12 days, and the US also launched a single strike on Iran's nuclear facilities on the night of June 22. After that, Tehran fired missiles at the US base in Udeid, Qatar on the evening of June 23 and stated that Iran had no intention to further escalate the conflict.

President of the United States Donald Trump later said that Iran's attack on the US military base in Qatar was "an emotional outburst," and that peace and agreements are now possible in the Middle East. He also said that Israel and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire, which will "formally end the 12-day war" 24 hours later.
