Jordan intercepted drones and missiles entering its airspace.
The Jordanian military said on Friday that it had intercepted drones and missiles violating its airspace, after Iran warned it would "unconditionally" respond to an Israeli attack on its territory earlier on Friday.
"This morning, Royal Air Force aircraft and air defense systems intercepted several missiles and drones entering Jordan's airspace," the Jordanian Army's statement said.
Earlier, according to AFP correspondents, alarm bells rang in Jordan's capital, Amman, and loudspeakers issued warnings for residents not to go outside.
"Jordan has never allowed and will never allow any violation of its airspace," said government spokesman Momeni on Friday. He reiterated, "The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will not become a battlefield for any conflict."
The Jordanian government also condemned Israel's attack on Iran, with foreign ministry spokesman Kuda warning, "The consequences of such escalation are unimaginable." Jordan also said that Israel's attack "grossly violated the sovereignty of a UN member state" and was "clearly in violation of" international law.
In the last attack by Iran on Israel in October 2024, a large number of drones and missiles launched from Iran to Israel were intercepted in Jordan's airspace.
